Born: May 28, 1943, Shahara – Yemen.

Yemeni statesman and political leader
who devoted his life to Yemen and still lives in the hearts of many.

Consistent with the ideals and principles Yahya Almutawakel to which he dedicated his life, it pleases me to announce the founding of “Yahya Al-Mutawakel Foundation for Development and Culture”, which aims to achieve my father’s vision to raise Yemen and its ambitious people from the lows of poverty, instability and ignorance to the heights of knowledge, fortitude and prosperity.

Graduated from the College of Aviation (1961).
Joined the Organization of Free Officers(1961).
Assumed an active role in the September 1962 Popular Revolution
Commanded the Northern Military Front (1962-1963).
Graduated with Higher Degree in Military Sciencefrom the Soviet Union (1965).
Member of the Defense Council and Director of the Office of the Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces 1967-1968.
Imprisoned Along with Yemeni Political Leaders by President Nasser in Cairo (1966-1967).
Commander of Saada Brigade, 1970.
Deputy Supreme Commander of Armed Forces (1970-1971).

Ambassador of Yemen to Egypt 1971-1974.
Member of the Leadership Council and Minister of the Interior 1974-1975.
Ambassador of Yemen to the United States of America 1976-1981.
